John Lennon”Beautiful Boy(Darling Boy)”和訳カバー

John LennonのBeautiful Boyを和訳して歌ってみました。

1980年にJohnが凶弾に倒れた直前に発売されたDouble Fantasyというオノヨーコとの共作アルバムに収録されています。

この曲はオノ・ヨーコとの間に生まれた当時5歳の息子Sean Lennonへ捧げられた曲です。

このアルバムが発表される前の5年間はJohnは息子Seanを専業主夫として育てていたこともあり、Seanとの精神的な結びつきは普通の父と子の何倍もあったのではないかと容易に推測されます。

そのため、この歌で歌われているようにどんなにかSeanの大きくなった姿を見たかっただろう、と想像しながら味わうと胸が痛くなってしまうほどです。立派にミュージシャンとして活躍しているSeanを見たかっただろうなぁ。最初に録音し始めた時には歌いながら泣いてしまいそうになりました。僕にも一応、小6になる息子がいるので…。

いつものように歌うことを前提にした和訳なので必ずしも意味はそのままではありませんが、よかったら聴いてみてください（ついでに言うとメロディもところどころ違いますね…）。画面の外に妻がいてサビを一緒に歌っています。少し下にオリジナル版のYouTubeも貼り付けたのでそちらも是非～。
