少し前にDonovan ”Happiness Runs” 和訳カバー | 雨の星 探検記 (amenohoshi.com)でも書いたように、たまに好きな英語の曲を日本語詞にして歌っています。
今日はBarry Mann の“Rock and Roll Lullaby”です。Barry Mannと奥さんのCynthia Weilの手による曲で、一般的には1972年のB.J. Thomasのバージョンで知られています。B.J. Thomasは映画『明日に向かって撃て』の挿入歌”Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head（雨にぬれても）”で有名ですね。
僕はBarry Mannが数多くの提供曲を自分で歌ったアルバム”Soul ＆ Inspiration”に収録されていたバージョンに先に触れたのでそちらの方が馴染みがあります。 このアルバムは名曲ぞろいなので、とてもお勧めです。Carole Kingとの共演曲なども収録されています。

サラッとしたB.J. Thomasも好きだけど、Barry Mannの思い入れたっぷりの歌唱も大好きです。
今回は夫婦で歌っています。（二人で雨の星というユニットをやってます。）

幼いお母さんに育てられた主人公の、母を想う切ない気持ちがあふれてくる、そんな曲です。
